January 5 Update

Dear Senior Honors Choir,

Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a restful Winter Break, and a Happy New Year. As I was waiting for the countdown on New Year’s Eve I found myself reflecting on the opportunities that 2024 can bring to all of us, and I am excited to finish this second half of our season as strong as ever. Please read the newsletter thoroughly as there is information about potential concert changes, and other things about the season.

Looking for a Flute Player for JHC
If you play the flute and are interested in playing with the JHC for one of their pieces please reach out to me and we can discuss more during rehearsal about the piece they are doing.

March 3 and April 7 Potential Switch
As I mentioned during our opening meeting on August 13th, one of our goals this year was to only use the dates on the calendar that we provided for you without adding any extra commitments. After we received the conflict forms we realized that March 3rd is a difficult date for a performance as 15 or 16 of you are involved with your respective musicals. I have been in communication with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and we are looking to move our performance to April 7th (currently a rehearsal date on our calendar). If we are able to change the concert, we will probably have a shortened rehearsal on March 3rd for those who do not have a musical. I am hoping that by next week’s newsletter I can confirm what the plan is for both of those dates.

Weather Monitoring This Sunday
We are planning on holding rehearsals during our normal hours this coming Sunday, January 7th. The current forecast shows that the incoming weather should be cleared by late Saturday/early hours Sunday. A communication would come from us only in the case of a cancellation. If you do not hear from us via email/remind/website then it means that we will proceed with our regular rehearsal.

Scholarship Opportunities
The Foundation for Enhancing Communities has several scholarships available for High School seniors from York County. Some of these scholarships are music related, but some of them are not. Most of the applications opened with the new year and their deadlines are March 15th, but others have different deadlines. If you are interested follow this link and it will take you to their scholarship list already sorted to include those available to students in York County.

I am looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

Sincerely,
Carlos Casilla
