YCHC has several choir opportunities for singers. The Senior Honors Choir is for students in grades 10 through 12. The Junior Honors Choir is for students in grades 7 through 9. Both Senior and Junior Honors Choirs require an audition for placement in the choir. The Elementary Honors Choir is for grades 5 and 6; no audition is required. The Alumni Choir welcomes any previous member of YCHC to sing at special events.

Registration timing varies depending on the choir you are considering. Senior Honors Choir and Junior Honors Choir registration happens in the spring, with auditions in the late summer and early fall. The Elementary Honors Choir registration takes place in the fall and winter. The Alumni Choir accepts new members on a rolling basis.

Rehearsals and meetings will take place at Asbury United Methodist Church, 340 East Market Street, York, PA. Performances take place throughout York County.

Rehearsal time is incredibly important to building our capabilities as a choir. No more than two rehearsals should be missed in each of the fall or spring semesters.

Singers have the opportunity to expand beyond their other choir programs to learn and grow with other talented performers across the County.

YCHC staff utilize The Hub as a repository for important information. This area of the website is password protected. This is updated regularly, and then singers and their families are reminded via other communications methods when updates are made.

Singers will receive their audition packets and rehearsal tracks in the fall, in anticipation of the auditions. Auditions will be held in 30-minute increments with groups of singers.

The schedule varies depending on which choir you’re in, but generally, the schedule involves Sunday afternoon rehearsals in the fall and January and February in preparation for approximately five concerts scheduled from February to the beginning of June.

Every fall, there’s an Elementary Choir Festival for singers in grades 5 and 6. Signup happens in the fall, and then rehearsals start in March on Saturdays. There are two performances in the spring, including the finale in early June.
